A Calculator With Personality
I’m sitting at my desk in the 1980s. Monitor in front of me. My boss is yelling at someone across the room. The chick next to me secretly flips him the bird and gives a wicked smile, then winks at me. I breathe out. Flip my computer on. Dream about Hawaii as I sip my coffee. She goes “Pssst… check out my new app… it’s supposed to be a calculator”. She cracks up… “but it really isn’t … it helps me decompress. I do a few calculations to tell myself I’m working then press the music key, and I can secretly play a game of checkers. See I can make the screen disappear, then reappear again.” (She chuckles a sinister chuckle as she looks at our boss.)
I’m sitting at my desk on June 23, 2026. After many iterations and lots of testing, I finally built that calculator. It’s for the person who works two jobs. For the single parent holding everything together. And, simply for someone who needs a little break over a cup of coffee while they’re still working. Enjoy.
